Survey Manager

To manage thermal image surveys of the interior of homes to save energy loss.

Location: Bristol with part time WFH.

27 month PAYE contract, 3 days/week till end December 2023, with possibility of fulltime extension. The job can be self-scheduling but includes some evenings and weekends.

Commencing early October 2021. 3 month probationary period.

Salary: £24,000 FTE (£1,200/month), holidays and pension entitlement. (+ £5 commission for each survey completed - if organised by you.)

If you would like a rewarding and stimulating job doing something you can be really proud of, this is a unique opportunity to develop the C.H.E.E.S.E. Project (TCP) into a financially sustainable pilot, for replication by franchise, with the assistance of an experienced team of directors who have built the project over 5 years. The core duties of this job will be to obtain and manage surveys, but the successful applicant will be expected to grow into the role of marketing and managing the pilot franchise and there may be opportunities to increase contractual hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

• Develop business strategy and business plan to sustainable profit, setting meaningful KPIs in collaboration with the Board to drive all aspects of TCP's operations

• To work closely with the Directors’ Management board of TCP, attending management meetings as a full member of the management team

• Together with the General Manager of First Thermal Ltd (the new franchisor company) enable the transformation/integration of TCP as a pilot franchisee.

• Assist with further development of the Franchise Manual

• Assist with training of Energy Tracers® (ET's) for TCP

• Together with our external accountants, oversee production of accounts and assist with writing annual reports thereon.

Sales and Customer Service

• Identify and recruit suitable community partners to maintain community links.

• Market to and develop a new customer base to maximise number of surveys

• Efficiently and courteously convert enquiries for surveys into firm bookings using the new automated booking/payment system (currently under development)

• Create a culture of customer service according to the First Thermal standards, ensuring the best possible customer experience

• Ensure advance payment is made for surveys and report to treasurer

• Be responsible for delivering our aims of Warmer Homes and a Cooler Planet.

Strategic partnerships and development

• Develop existing constructive relationships in the local energy sector to strengthen brand and business partnerships and to deliver surveys, including with Bristol City Council, WECA, Bristol Energy Network, architects, Centre for Sustainable Energy, Citizens Advice, conservation organizations, etc.

• Develop partnerships with commercial retrofit businesses e.g. City Leap contractors

• Work with directors and staff developing new analyses of survey outcomes as carbon savings, etc.

Line Management

• Provide strong management of ETs and volunteer Assistants, including planning, recruitment, training, motivation and team-building for TCP in line with First Thermal policies, values and standards

• Regularly evaluate the performance of all ETs and provide regular feedback to ensure results

• Supervise automatic invoicing by ETs and payment to them with assistance of the company intra-net and Xero

• Be responsible for monitoring and logging confidential archiving of internal thermal surveys of homes into our database

• Set up and monitor 1- month and 1-year follow-up visits by ETs, logging the data received

• Assist with bids and reports to active and potential funders

• Additional responsibilities may be added according to the instructions of the Board.
