Nick Dean is the Managing Director of ADLIB

Tell us a little about your background.

ADLIB is a Recruitment Agency with purpose. We’re proudly B Corp certified, 100% employee owned with a mission and impact that goes far beyond recruitment.

The ADLIB team operate across several markets - Technology, data, engineering, life sciences, eCommerce, marketing and design. Throughout we have an ever-increasing focus to work with clients where sustainability, either via their own product or service, or internal transformation, are a key component to their measurement of success.

Tell us about your business’ purpose and vision.

We believe stakeholder capitalism is the future and that business can and should be used as a force for good. Having recently moved to a 100% employee owned model we’ve built a platform for recruiters who love what they do but want more out of their working lives. This doesn’t mean they lose the benefits of their career choice that aligned with the sector model, far from it, we’ve created a long term environment that balances profit and purpose.

Tell us about your Sustainability journey up to today.

Our journey is based on three core principals. People, community and planet. We have an internal stakeholder group, coupled with an employee council, that work collectively to initiate, develop and track objectives that sit across all three principles.

Tell us a little about the work your company is doing.

As a BCorp we’re required to create an annual impact report which highlights what we’ve achieved in year gone and year ahead. Examples include our pledge to support several of the of the UN Sustainability Goals 2030 where we are able to contribute positive impacts, the continued development and reach of our SW GreenTech Meetup Group, the launch of a niche gender Meetup Group in January 2021 (details to follow) and a commitment to become climate positive by 2021.

What does being part of a community such as the Future Economy Network mean to you?

ADLIB has always been a community focussed business since the early days. We believe in shared economies, in their simplest form when people are driven to support each other it will lead to shared success without consideration to the term. We see the Future Economy Network as a prime example of such a community, by its very nature and shared common goals the people are there to there to support each other through shared knowledge and resources.

Any resource that has helped you in your sustainability journey that you would like to share with our readership?

B Corp – It was a big move for a recruitment company and one that proved that using as a business as a force for good can flow through the bones of all manner of organisations.

What does a Future Economy look like for you? (How do you see the future for sustainable businesses?)

Put very simply - Stakeholder not purely shareholder.
