Your chance to have a say on your future workforce needs

At Business West, we are delighted to be named as one of eight Chambers of Commerce across the country leading as a trailblazer for a new Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) in our region, West of England Plus.

Over the next 4 years, the government is investing millions of pounds into development and training provision and they are asking for your views on current and future thinking on where this money should be invested and how training and education should be delivered for employers like you in the region.

Funded by the Department for Education, we are collecting valuable input on what is needed to improve business growth, staff retention, and recruitment in future from organisations from key players in the Aerospace, Advanced Engineering and Social Care landscapes in the West of England. We want to hear from you on:

• The help and support your business needs for employing and retaining staff.

• What more the project can do to connect your business to Further Education and Training Providers.

• Where you think your industry is moving towards in terms of digitalisation and decarbonisation in future years.

Would you like to get involved? The LSIP team can offer you a variety of options to put your voice at the centre of the change that will support the future of organisations like you in your sector.

Sign up to a interview with a member of the LSIP team

Our Business Engagement Executives are hosting short 40-minute interviews with businesses to go through a series of questions on your current and future workforce needs, how you interact with Further Education and Training Providers, and how your business is integrating new digital technology and more sustainable practices on the UK's journey to net zero.

To sign up for an interview, contact our Project Coordinator Lydia at LSIP@businesswest.co.uk with a preferred time and date for our team to get in touch for a chat.

Fill in our short survey

We have created a short survey on the barriers you face with staff retention and recruitment that takes no more than 2.5 minutes of your time to complete.

Attend our events

The LSIP team will be hosting a variety of events in the coming weeks from our Jet Zero Hydrogen and Skills conference to smaller focus group events on wellbeing, leadership and technology in the social care sector.

Find out more about these events on our website https://www.businesswest.co.uk/local-skills-improvement-plan-lsip-west-england-plus or get in touch with us (LSIP@businesswest.co.uk) and we can send you more information.

As part of the project, we’re thrilled to announce we are collaborating again with our fellow B-Corp partner, Ecologi, to plant an LSIP forest that will be able to be visited using the app, whatthreewords. Business West has already planted over 20,000 trees with Ecologi and offset more than 1,000 tonnes of CO2.

For every applicable survey and interview completed from a business in the Aerospace, Advanced Engineering, Health and Social Care sectors in the West of England Plus region, we will be planting a tree in a UK forest. In 2022, we will be releasing the location of each tree using the app ‘whatthreewords’ to allow you to visit your own tree.
