Support for businesses to fast track their sustainability journey

Businesses in Bath and North East Somerset who want to make faster progress with their carbon neutrality are invited to join a series of events beginning in July.

Bath & North East Somerset Council is joining with Bristol-based Future Economy Network to bring climate and carbon-focused events to businesses across the district.

The events aim to enable organisations to share information with each other and explore solutions for making their businesses carbon neutral more quickly.

The Future Economy Network gives businesses the knowledge and tools to accelerate their sustainability journey and will run four events per year in B&NES.

The first event on July 22 at 6pm-8.30pm is How to Take Part in a Greener Future and businesses can sign up here

Councillor Sarah Warren, Deputy Leader, Climate & Sustainable Travel, said: “The climate emergency is a call to action across parts of the community to work towards carbon neutrality. We welcome this new series of targeted business events that the Future Economy Network are bringing to the Bath and North East Somerset district and are pleased to be involved in their first one on July 22.

“There is huge value in sharing knowledge, expertise and solutions with your peers, whatever part of the community you’re in and we see this as one way for businesses to learn from each other as they transition to low and zero carbon operations.”

Part of the council’s leadership in tackling the climate emergency is the commitment to support the business sector to achieve carbon neutrality.

Davina Gilbert, Events Manager at Future Economy Network said: “We’re looking forward to growing our network in B&NES and have a great programme of events in development. There is lots of innovation and best practice being led by businesses in B&NES and we want to help shine the light more brightly on that and in turn help other businesses benefit from the experiences of those who are already working towards carbon neutrality.”
