Greener Energy Futures secures significant decarbonisation funding for Bristol events company

Greener Energy Futures (GEF), a Bristol-based environmental consultancy, were chosen by Pytch to help them secure decarbonisation funding from the West of England Combined Authority via the European Regional Development Fund. After the application was approved in October 2021, Pytch received a £7,000 grant allowing the organisation to carry out energy-saving improvements across their headquarters in Brislington, South Bristol. This move will allow Pytch to significantly reduce carbon emissions by 2.5 tonnes and save 1,000 in heating costs annually. Also, capital costs will be 50% subsidised by the grant.

In early 2021, GEF alerted Pytch to the grant as they were looking to curb their carbon impact. Previously, the organisation had generated power through solar panels and battery storage, however, the opportunity for greener buildings appealed to them. GEF surveyed the organisation’s five buildings to construct decarbonisation plans and later sourced contractors to deliver reductions.

GEF identified that carbon and cost reductions would be possible by installing cavity wall insulation to three of the buildings. This process places polystyrene behind the interior walls, creating a blanket to keep heat inside each property for longer. This is due to be completed before January 2022.

Simon Pyne, Director at Greener Energy Futures:

“COP26 has heightened discussions about sustainability and the role that organisations can take to help us create a better future. Businesses that demonstrate green behaviour can save money and be more appealing to both clients and customers and so it’s a win-win for all. Our work with Pytch shows that being green is worthwhile and we’ll be continuing to support them to minimise their footprint through staff training and engagement.”

Johnny Palmer, Managing Director at Pytch Limited:

“Sustainability should be at the top of all organisations’ agendas as we can only tackle climate change together. For us, it made sense to work with Greener Energy Futures to get the help we needed to be more sustainable and more profitable. Pytch is currently pending B-Corp certification because we believe in the power of business to benefit all.”

GEF recently partnered with Jeff Way Group, securing another grant from the West of England Combined Authority to help them to reduce their carbon footprint. With a portfolio of partners from the world of emergency services and schools to finance lenders and data centres, the organisation has helped clients raise £3.5m of funding for more than 400 tonnes of carbon reduction.
