FEG April Update!

News from The Future Economy Group

Happy Easter one and all, hope this means that you have had a chance to take some time off work, or at least to work whilst enjoying an Easter Egg or two! Another fun month for The Future Economy Network with the delivery of 3 events and continued progress within our carbon neutral sustainability hub!

On 21st March, we hosted ‘The Future of UK Energy Systems’ where 4 speakers gave their expert opinions on the expected changes to the National Grid and the innovative technologies and services that will help progress this change. Huge thanks to subscribers Smith and Williamson for hosting and to our speakers and attendees for a great evening of knowledge sharing and networking. If you missed this one, do not fear as we will be running a similar event in Bath on 30th April. Details of how to book on can be found here!

Our hugely popular monthly Netwalking fortuitously took place before the weather took a turn for the worse. If you haven’t come along to one of these events yet, come give it a go. It is free and a great way to network whilst taking in some of Bristol’s green spaces.

Speaking of greenery, this month installation of our green wall is under way, this will be installed along the length of the hub’s façade; a great way to green the area, to market the hub, to encourage biodiversity and biophilia and to improve air quality. Coming months will also see the planting of a small garden to be used by those within the co-working space and some greening within the hub itself! Such decisions are not being made in isolation and on 26th March, we held another stakeholder engagement group, this time for people who have expressed an interest in the co-working space. All were in agreement that greenery, good kitchen and storage facilities, showers and secure bike parking are important. The good news is that all of these ideas are within our plans and in fact, the shower facilities are under way! We will continue to consult as the re-fit develops. If you would like a tour, please get in touch and we’ll arrange to show you around.

And last but not least, things are progressing really well with The Festival of Sustainable Business. Exhibition spaces are booking up fast and we have confirmed speakers from Prolectric, Field Fisher, Bright Green Futures and North Bristol SusCom amongst others to speak at some of the seminars. If you are interested in exhibiting or sponsoring the Festival, set to be the biggest environmental trade show in the south west, please get in touch!
