Introducing our wonderful speakers:

Sophia Cheng, Founder of With Many Roots, Climate Collage UK Co-ordinator

After lots of experimenting trying to figure out how to be useful in a climate crisis, Sophia is using her 10 years of communications experience to tackle climate science and climate silence through engaging workshops. Since her Covid-19 induced business pivot she has now delivered workshops to some of the world's biggest brands, SMEs and local community groups. As her work scales she's exploring how she can do business fit for the Anthropocene as founder of With Many Roots.

Julia Anukam, Sustainability Executive, SustainIt Solutions

Julia has been working at SustainIt Solutions since September 2021, following the completion of her MSc in Sustainability and Management at the University of Bath. Prior to her Masters, she worked across multiple industries with a background in consulting, account management and client relations. She bolstered vital strategic management skills whilst working in the travel industry for 3 years. During this time, Julia sat on the company’s first sustainability committee, providing practical and strategic ideas and solutions for the company to improve their environmental and social commitments internally. She is currently undertaking study at Cranfield University to specialise as a sustainability practitioner, training to gain professional recognition as a Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) and Practitioner Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

Owen Roberts, Marketing Executive, SustainIt Solutions

Owen joined the company in March 2022 and has since channelled his passion for sustainability, and his entrepreneurial mind, into his role through various internal marketing projects. Combining years’ worth of digital marketing experience, with a degree in business and management, Owen’s passion for driving real change in businesses was apparent from day one! After a rocky financial year in 2020, Owen set up his first business. He gained practical experience in business management and marketing by creating, promoting and selling hand designed merchandise online. Following the success of his first venture, and this time with a business-partner, Owen decided to branch out and set up an SEO copywriting agency. This allowed him to gain a depth of experience working with clients from different sectors, across nationally and international markets. His e-commerce businesses were setup with sustainability imbedded in their DNA, only considering and using the most environmentally friendly methods and practises available to him. This is when he discovered he could combine his love for business with sustainability and felt compelled to help other SMEs approach business using a similar mindset.

Eleanor Akers, Sustainability Consultant.

Future Leap Eleanor is a chartered Chemical Engineer and holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins. She works with businesses around the world to help them understand where they are on their sustainability journeys and plot their next steps on the road to net zero. She has experiences at all stages of the energy value chain in Europe and North America and a detailed knowledge of the economics and technical requirements of distributed energy systems and sustainability tech. She is skilled at using big data to uncover opportunities for her clients to become more sustainable and reduce operating costs. When not at her desk she can usually be found on her yoga matt, out on her bike or curled up with a good book.

Dr Simon Russell Forsyth, Senior Sustainability Consultant at Future Leap.

Simon stumbled into environmental management in 1989 by offering to look after a paper recycling bin. He helped set up the Green Teams at Hewlett Packard in Bristol, ran them for five years, then became HP Ltd’s full-time environmental specialist. He left in 2000 to run a small consultancy, went on to run the Econet in-work training project, helped deliver the southwest-wide Envision programme, established a number of Resource Efficiency Clubs for small businesses, trained a lot of Trading Estates, and now focuses on the business linkages between cost-intensity, carbon intensity, and becoming more profitable. To condense all this into something usable, he produces simplifying software – the dataCollator.

Eoin McQuone, Sustainability Consultant, Future Leap.

Eoin is a Carbon Consultant with Future Leap and the founder of “Go Climate Positive”, a community of businesses determined to make a difference on climate change. Specialising in carbon calculation and analysis, he’s an optimist and passionately believes that business has a positive role to play in promoting prosperity for all while protecting the planet. Outside of work, he will generally be found either running along the Cotswold Way or on stage playing the bass guitar.
